run dre run
Saturday I ran for the first time in 2 mos. 8 days.
We hit up LA Fitness before taking the trip home to my Motherland. 8 AM. had me contemplating making a move on the treadmill. I eyeballed it while stretching my legs, evaluating the strength left. Placed my ears in..got the RUNDRERUN playlist going..and stepped up with my trusty purple asics.
I walked for 6 minutes..warming up. Stretched out my arms, back, and neck.
Filled my lungs with air and blew out. Gunned up the speed to 5.7 and felt the familiar rhythm pound beneath my feet. AWWW...Relief and Sweet RELEASE!
I was back in my world..I felt like I could fly. No pain in my toe, a little squeeze in my foot however, and my knee felt like a 18 year olds. Running running running running...I felt so free and so HAPPY!!
The sweat started to pour..and it felt like rain. Sweating while running is totally diffent from sweating from anything else..to me that is. I ran and ran goin nowhere in my little LA FITNESS world...jamming to tunes, and smiling at "D" my "IM DOING IT YA SEE ME"..gaze.
I gunned it running for 24 minutes in which I did 10:40 miles..and ran 3 miles (counting the 6 minute walk warmup.)
Sunday..I was home. I contemplated running at GODS COUNTRY, but after my first day back and swimming at Warm Springs, I took a day of rest. Sides, I was feeling some soreness in my thighs. Miraculously, I was feeling no pain in my toe.
Today honeyboo is not feeling up to par. So I may not run again tonite..but hopefully I can sneak away for at least 30 minutes to run my little heart out. Geez, I read that back and it sounds so selfish. But Im finally free ...and dammit I NEED TO RUN!!!
I already feel so back to LIFE! I feel so happy and so so so...words cannot describe. I know the road back to where I was with my running will be long and grueling, but I am so grateful that I have the abilty to run again. I will forever appreciate the ability to be healthy and to push my body to places I never knew I could.
Thank you to the "MAN UPSTAIRS."
